سلط هذا البحث الضوء على علم من أعلام المحدثين في عصره، وهو الإمام، أبو عبد الله، محمد بن علي، الصوري، حيث بيان: جهوده، وآثاره العلمية والحديثية، ونقده للرواة، وبيان حالهم من الجرح والتعديل، ومنهجه في ذلك، وقد اهتمت هذه الدراسة بجمع ما تفرق من أقوال الإمام الصوري في ثنايا الكتب، وبيان منهجه، ودقته، سواء في نقده للرواة جرحًا وتعديلًا، أم في تواريخ مواليدهم، ووَفَيَاتِهِمْ، ونحوها، أم المؤتلف والمختلف من: أسمائهم، وأنسابهم، وغير ذلك مما برع فيه الإمام الصوري، لكن كان أكثر الاهتمام بجهوده، ومنهجه في الجرح والتعديل، وإلا؛ فالحافظ الصوري له باع كبير ومؤلفات كثيرة في المختلف والمؤتلف، متأثرًا في ذلك بشيخه عبدالغني المقدسي، وقد  اعتمدت في هذه الدراسة على المنهجين  الاستقرائي والتحليلي، وأسفرت  نتائجها عن  بيان مدى سعة اطلاع الإمام الصوري، وأنه بَيَّنَ لنا حال رواة -جرحًا وتعديلًا- لولاه لبقوا في عداد المجهولين؛ فقد تكلم في رواة لم يتكلم فيهم غيره، واعتمد الأئمة من شيوخه ومَنْ جاء بعده قوله، ووافقوه عليه، ولم أقف على من خالفه في جرح أو تعديل، ولهذا السبب يعتبر الإمام الصوري من المعتدلين في الجرح ، كما أسفرت الدراسة أيضًا  عن  بيان مدى دقة وتحري الإمام الصوري في كلامه عن الرواة، سواء ما يتعلق بالجرح والتعديل، أم ما يتعلق بتواريخ الرواة- مواليدهم، ووَفَيَاتِهِمْ، ونحوها- أم ما يتعلق بالمختلف والمؤتلف من أسمائهم، وأنسابهم، وغيرها.

Abstract:
This research sheds light on one of the prominent hadith scholars of his time، Imam Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Ali Al-Suri. The study explores his contributions، scholarly and hadith works، his critique of narrators، the clarification of their status in terms of al-Jarḥ wa al-Ta'dīl (disparagement and validation)، and his methodology in evaluating them. The study aims to gather the scattered statements of Imam Al-Suri across various books، clarifying his methodology and precision، whether in his critique of narrators (by "discrediting" or "validating")، his recording of their dates of birth and death، or his work in distinguishing similar or different names، lineages، and so on—areas in which Imam Al-Suri excelled.
However، the primary focus was on his efforts and his methodology in al-Jarḥ wa al-Ta'dīl (narrator disparagement and validation). Otherwise، Al-Hafiz Al-Suri had extensive expertise and numerous works in the field of al-Mukhtalif wa al-Mu’talif (homographic and heterophonic names)، influenced in this by his teacher، 'Abd al-Ghanī al-Maqdisī. This study has revealed the vastness of Imam Al-Suri’s knowledge and that he clarified for us the status of narrators in terms of jarḥ and ta'dīl who، without him، would have remained among the unknown. He commented on narrators whom no one else had discussed، and the Imams—both his teachers and those who came after him—relied upon his verdicts، agreed with him، and I have not come across anyone who contradicted his ruling in jarḥ or ta'dīl. For this reason، Imam Al-Suri is considered among the moderate scholars in al-Jarḥ wa al-Ta'dīl. This study also revealed the extent of Imam Al-Suri's precision and diligence in his statements about narrators، whether concerning al-Jarḥ wa al-Ta'dīl، the biographical dates of narrators (their births، deaths، and so on)، or matters related to al-Mukhtalif wa al-Mu’talif in their names، lineages، and otherwise.
