ملخص: 
تتناول هذه الدراسة قضية الكفاءة في النكاح وهي قضية شغلت أذهان الفقهاء قديما ولا زالت تطرح التساؤلات إلى يومنا، وذلك بسبب اختلاف الأعراف الاجتماعية وتبدل معايير الكفاءة من جهة، وبسبب يرجع إلى نفس الكفاءة من جهة أخرى، فإن الكفاءة لازمة لاستقرار الأسرة وحصول الأمن النفسي، وافتقادها يعكر صفو الحياة ولهذا السبب اعتبرها الفقه الإسلامي من جملة منظومة شروط النكاح.
وقد هدفت الدراسة إلى بيان مفهوم الكفاءة ومعاييرها وأحكامها في المذاهب الفقهية الأربعة، وفقا للمنهج المقارن، ثم انتهت إلى جملة من النتائج والتوصيات فمن أهم النتائج: أن الصلاح والتقوى في الرجل هما الأساس الذي ينبغي أن تنظر إليه المرأة وأولياؤهـا؛ وأن النظرة إلى الحرفة تختلف بحسب الأزمنة والأمكنة.
وأما أهم التوصيات فهي: توجيه الباحثين إلى دراسة أثر الحرفة في الإخلال بالكفاءة في ضوء تغير الأعراف والظروف الاقتصادية للبلد المعين، وتوجيه الأولياء إلى عدم إجبار البنات على نكاح من لا يردن نكاحه للإحساس بفجوة بسبب التعليم، أو المهنة، أو النسب، أو الدين.
 
 
 
 
Abstract
      This research handles the issue of marriage efficiency which has occupied the minds of the jurists in ancient times, and it still raises questions up till now because of the different social conventions and the standards of efficiency on the one hand, and the efficiency itself on the other hand. Hence, efficiency is necessary for family stability and psychological safety, but its absence would disturb life and for this reason, the Islamic Jurisprudence has included efficiency within a group of marriage conditions. Accordingly, the present research aims at displaying the concept of efficiency, its standards and provisions as identified by the four schools of jurisprudence utilizing the comparative approach. Next, the research has concluded with a group of findings and recommendations. One of those important findings is that man's goodness and piety constitute the basis at which the woman and her guardians should look whereas looking at man's profession varies according to times and places. As for the most important recommendations, the research recommends researchers to study the impact of profession upon breaching efficiency in the light of changing conventions and economic circumstances of a specific state then guiding guardians not to compel their daughters to marry a man whom they do not want because of an education, profession, relation, or religion gap.
